SediPact^® Sludge Recirculation and Thickening Clarifier

The SEDIPACT^® technology is a universal and multi-purpose clarification process that can be adapted under different forms to meet the various needs of our municipal and industrial clients. The SEDIPACT^® process combines the coagulation, flocculation and counter-current lamella settling stages in a single unit. Inclined lamella plates located side-by-side create modular sedimentation units. Compared with conventional settlers this configuration provides a larger settling surface area within a similar footprint. Moreover, the lamella plates enhance settling of the less soluble flocs by improving the hydraulic distribution of the water and reducing turbulence.

Process Description

Coagulant is injected into the coagulation zone and destabilize suspended solids (SS) into settleable.

Recirculated sludge and polymer are added into the flocculation zone, to enhance the forming of large, easily settled microflocs.

The  flocculated  water  enters  the  bottom  of the  lamella  settling  tank.  The  water  flows upwards,  in  the  opposite  direction  to  the settling flocs, which are deposited along the lamella  plates  and  settle  downwards  under the effect of gravity.

The sludge that accumulates in the bottom of the tank is regularly removed utilizing scraper mechanism.

With proper design of sludge zone, the sludge is thickened by gravity.

The sludge in the bottom of tank is pumped to flocculation zone as seed which can accelerate the formation of flocs.

The SEDIPACT^® process combines the  coagulation,  flocculation,  lime  softening, and lamella settling, sludge thickening stages in a single unit. The footprint  is 5 to 10 times less  than  that  of  a  conventional  treatment system.

● Reinforcement flocculation

The innovative draft tube in the flocculation zone ensures optimum utilization of all chemicals, enhanced reaction kinetics and a smaller tank footprint.

The SEDIPACT^® process allows to get high concentrated sludge (at least 10 g/l and until 100 g/l for clarification or 150-400g/L for lime softening) which fulfils the requirements of the new regulation for sludge treatment. The resulting sludge may be directly admitted on a dewatering machine.

Benefiting from lamellar of thickened sludge recirculation, SEDIPACT^® takes changing raw water characteristics and consistently achieves high settled water quality.
